Wretched and sleepless
Alone in illusions
Of every dream I've ever crafted
In my tiny little bed
Wondering if I do these things on purpose
So I can stay alone
Romance is best in fiction
So I'm told
So I will fictionalize everyone
And live in lands which swallow me
And leave me in illusions
Warm in my own dreams
Because no one wants to be loved anymore
Just worshipped and adored
Because love requires a kind of suicide
A self-sacrifice of sorts
Because I'm better off just on my own, on my own
Or so I'm told
Give me your hand,
I want to hold on
To someone who says they're real
To someone with a heart
That still beats
Still beats
And wishes for better things
And we could be happy
Pretending, forever, never-ending
Just pretending
Because no one wants to be loved anymore
Just worshipped and adored
Because love requires a kind of suicide
A self-sacrifice of sorts
Because I am better on my own, on my own
Or so I'm told

YOU SAID IT BEST. I THINK WE HAVE ALL BEEN THERE WHETHER WE WANT TO ADMIT IT OR NOT. IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME AND I AM GUILTY OF IT AS WELL.

ReplyDeleteThe line about 'no one wants to be loved anymore, just worshipped and adored' Oh my god, that is sooooo true, I could tell you a little story about a **** like that!
ReplyDeleteThis,
ReplyDeletefor me,
throws out parallels between love and religion.
I think love is like religion;
as does Freud -
The Oedipal root of religion etc.
I dont understand the line between love and worship,
when love is reciprocated worship -
Yes?
So religion is unreciprocated worship,
So God is an unrequited love.
Mika: guilty! (as in - yah, me too)
ReplyDeleteBecca: do tell... :)
Ben: what, you mean God doesn't worship you? (just kidding!) I think love is a lot more than worship, because it has to do with learning to maintain respect for a person through their faults as well as your own, and to stick with them even when things get difficult. Freud made some good points, but as far as we know he never learned to listen to opinions which differed from his own... which probably means that he never really learned to love.
I think Freud was gay.
ReplyDeleteThis is because Jung asked him for personal background for dream interpretation and then Freud said no because he was afraid that it would challenge his authority.
So either he is gay or he bought his degree.
Did Freud really make good points?
If Freud is true then we are naaasty creatures.
I suppose the argument depends on how you define worship.
Wouldnt you have to worship someone to see past their faults and stay with them for aaages?
Is love THAT different from worship?
I think love is mutual worship.
I guess that sounds a bit heavy-handed though.
Ahaha
he didnt
but also
you think the ability to love is learned?
What do you know anyway
your American.
(Joking)
xx
I feel bad about the joke now.
ReplyDeleteI guess its not personal.
I guess a lot of people dislike America
but that doesnt mean you dislike America.
Digging a hole...
Haha! Thanks... no, I laughed at the joke... because it was FUNNY! Don't feel bad :)
